Violinist James Ehnes was a big winner at this year’s Juno Awards.
Ehnes won the Juno for Classical Solo or Ensemble for his recording of Prokofiev’s Complete Works for Violin. He also won in the category of Solo Artist with large Ensemble for his album Britten and Shostakovich with the Bournemouth Symphony.
Contralto Marie-Nicole Lemieux won best classical vocal performance for Lettres de Madame Roy a sa fille Gabrielle with Andre Gagnon.
She recently appeared in the Canadian Opera Company’s A Masked Ball.
And Alan Gordon Bell won best classical composition for Field Notes from his recording, Gravity and Grace.
