Click on the link above to hear Ozzie Williams and his band performing The Subway Song, recorded in 1950 while work was underway for Toronto’s first subway. It finally opened sixty years ago this Sunday, March 30th, running from Eglinton to Union Station.

The line would extend up University to St. George eight years later. The Bloor-Danforth line went into service in 1966.
