You will have to drive with Winter weather conditions in mind this weekend. Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for Toronto and parts of the GTA. The weather agency says that freezing rain could be mixed with snow starting tonight. Hector Mareno is the city of Toronto’s manager of road operations. He says anti-icing trucks have been out, paying special attention to overpasses, underpasses, hills and intersections. Environment Canada has also issued a special weather statement saying there could be heavy snow north of the GTA from Grey-Bruce counties through the Kawarthas to Kingston and Brockville. The band of snow will reach the Ottawa and Cornwall areas overnight, with most of the snow falling Saturday with snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm possible. Experts advice that you keep your snow tires on until we have at least seven days in a row of seven degree weather.
