An already-extensive search is being widened for a Malaysia Airlines jet that disappeared ten days ago.
Investigators say they believe the Boeing 777 was deliberately diverted and flew off-course for several hours.
But they don’t know in which direction.
There are two possible paths. One is a northwesterly arc that heads over China and as far as Kazakhstan. The other goes southwest over the Indian ocean to the west of Australia.
John Young is the General Manager of Australia’s Maritime Safety Authority’s Emergency Response Division. He it’s not an easy assignment because they are searching an area that is 600,000 square kilometres.
The plane disappeared March 8th on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. There were 239 people on board, including two Canadians.
