Canada used its speed and strength to defeat the United States 1-0 in their Olympic semifinal grudge match today.

it was a rematch of the gold-medal final four years ago when Sidney Crosby scored the overtime goal for Canada to beat its southern neighbor.

Canada will now play in Sunday’s game for the gold against unblemished Sweden – which defeated rival Finland 2-1 earlier today.

Also today Charle Cournoyer of Boucherville, Quebec took the bronze in the men’s 500-metre short-track speed skating race.

And The Brad Jacobs rink from Sault Ste. Marie won the gold medal in men’s curling with a 9-3 win over Britain.

Winnipeg’s Jennifer Jones won the gold in women’s curling yesterday.

Canadians Marielle Thompson and Kelsey Serwa won the first two medals of the day -taking gold and silver women’s skicross.

Canada now has 24 medals — nine gold, 10 silver and five bronze.
