LEGISLATURE RESUMES SITTING; ELECTION TALK IS IN THE AIR

The legislature is back in session at Queen’s Park today.

But the big question is, will this be the last session for the current government?

There’s a lot of election talk among the parties as the minority Liberal government prepares to table a budget that will give the Conservatives and NDP a chance to defeat the Liberals and trigger an election.

PC leader Tim Hudak says last week’s byelections demonstrate that voters want change.

Premier Kathleen Wynne concedes that point following a decade of Liberal governments. But she insists that she represents that change.

It will be up to the NDP to support the minority Liberals or trigger an election. Leader Andrea Horwath says she is prepared to wait and see how the session, and the budget, play out.  But she does not want to see any new taxes or fees.

One thing is for sure. The return of the legislature means the return of committee hearings that will keep reminding voters of the decision by the Liberals to cancel gas plants in the GTA before the last election at a cost of more than a billion dollars.
