Patrick Chan is coming home with silver.

The 23-year old from Toronto finished second in men’s figure skating at the Sochi Games.

He didn’t skate a clean program – touching the ice on one jump while falling on another to score 178.10 in the free skate.

Japan’s Yuzuru Hanyu finished first despite falling twice.

His long program score was 178.64.

Chan trailed by four points going into the program.

The 19-year old Hanyu lives and trains in Toronto with Brian Orser.

Meanwhile, Canada beat Austria 6-0 in mens hockey.

Jeff Carter had three goals.

Drew Doughty, Shea Weber and Ryan Getzlaf had the others.

Roberto Luongo made 23 saves for the shutout.

After a day off Saturday, Canada closes out the preliminary round Sunday against Finland.
