Disgraced theatre producer Garth Drabinsky is seeking permission to appeal a Federal Court ruling and reclaim his Order of Canada. He lost the honour after being sentenced to serve time in prison for fraud. He was recenlty granted full parole. 64-year old Drabinsky claims that because he was behind bars, he didn’t have a proper opportunity to argue his case to the Order of Canada advisory council. His notice of appeal lists evidence he would have given the council. Drabinsky was sentenced to five years in prison in 2009 after he and his business partner Myron Gottlieb were convicted for fraud in a scheme involving Livent the theatre company behind such hits as Phantom of the Opera and Ragtime
