The House of Commons resumes sitting after the winter break and the Prime Minister and his government will be returned to reality very quickly. After a trip to the middle east where Stephen Harper was honoured, celebrated, and treated with respect, he is back in the Commons today, where the opposition is expected to pick up where it left off last year, hammering the government on the Senate scandal. Government House Leader Peter Van Loan says the focus will be on the economy. But the New Democrats and Liberals say the ongoing R-C-M-P investigation into the Senate scandal will keep that issue front and centre on the political agenda. R-C-M-P documents filed in court allege more than a dozen top players in Conservative ranks were involved in concocting a deal to protect Senator Mike Duffy after he landed in hot water over housing expenses. Van Loan says Canadians are more worried about economic issues than the Senate scandal.
