The praise keeps piling up for Sarah Polley’s “Stories We Tell.”
Her intensely personal film has earned the actress-turned-filmmaker a Directors Guild of America nomination for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentaries.
The DGA’s list of five nominees also includes Zachary Heinzerling for “Cutie and the Boxer,” and Lucy Walker for “The Crash Reel.”
“Stories We Tell ” is also on the short list for an Academy Award nomination for best feature documentary.
Polley’s film delves into a long-held family secret about her parentage. It won awards from the New York Film Critics Circle and National Board of Review last month and a $100,000 prize from the Toronto Film Critics Association last year.
The DGA winner will be announced at a dinner January 25th in Los Angeles.
