Starting Friday crews in Toronto will begin 12 hour days as the city clears tree brush which fell during last month’s ice storm. The clean up is expected to take 6 to 8 weeks and will cost about $25 million. A further $50 million is expected to be spent repairing Toronto’s tree canopy. Because of the Asian Long Horn Beetle and Emerald Ash Borer infestation, particularly in the west end of the Toronto and and into Mississauga, you are advised not to assume piled up debris can be taken for firewood. Infected wood is under quarantine by the federal government.
