It’s one of the longest-running shows in Broadway history. And it’s still packing them in.

The Lion King took in $97-million last year, making it the biggest box-office draw on Broadway in 2013. It also became the first Broadway show to pass the one-billion-dollar mark in revenue last year.

The Lion King opened in 1997, and is the fourth longest-running show in Broadway history, behind Phantom of the Opera, Cats, and Chicago.

The Book of Mormon was the second biggest draw last year with ticket sales of $90.4-million.

Another box office record was set, too. Wicked took in $3.2-million dollars over nine performances last week to establish a new benchmark for sales in one week.
