The Maple Leafs beat the Red Wings 3-2 in a shootout.

Snow falling, wind blowing all game long, it was scoreless after the 1st period.

Daniel Alfredsson opened the scoring in the second.

A few minutes later, James Van Riemsdyk tied it up.

Early in the third, Toronto had its first lead.

Tyler Bozak tipping in a Dion Phaneuf shot from the point.

Then it was the Wings turn to tie it up at 3.

Justin Abdelkader  sending it to overtime which settled nothing.

In the shootout, neither side scored on its first try.

Then the second round shooters for each team scored

The Red Wings went for the lead and possible win but failed … setting the stage for Tyler Bozak.

He scored leaving Red Wings fans feeling blue in the Big House before 105,491 fans.

Jonathan Bernier with another big game – 41 saves.

Off the ice, Leafs traded defenceman John Michael Liles and college prospect Dennis Robertson to the Hurricanes for defenceman Tim Gleason.
