Cajun artist George Rodrigue has died following a long battle with cancer.

He was 69.

A native of Louisiana, Rodrigue began painting scenes of life there in the 1960s.

He’ll likely best be remembered for the ”Blue Dog” which became his signature creation in the 1990s.
