Another great honour for Canada’s Alice Munro.

On the day she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, Munro’s alma mater announced a newly established Chair in her honour.

London Ontario’s Western University has committed $1.5 million to match donations to the Alice Munro Chair in Creativity.

The new Chair will enable Western’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities to recruit a creative writer, teacher and scholar.

Munro studied at Western as an undergraduate in the 1950s.

She returned as a Writer-in-Residence from 1974 to 1975.

That’s when she authoured her Governor General’s Award winning collection “Who Do You Think You Are?”
