An item from one of the most famous scenes in movie history is going up for auction but the sale will be delayed for a while.
The grey wool suit that Gene Kelly wore while singing the title song from the 1952 classic Singin’ In The Rain was to be sold today but an ice storm (of all things) in Dallas – cut the power to the auction house and the sale is postponed until next Thursday.
The first suit Kelly wore while filming the dance number shrank so much after being drenched it couldn’t be worn again but fortunately, wardrobe had duplicates standing by.
The suit was purchased by a collector for ten-dollars and it’s expected to sell for more than $20,000.
