Premier Kathleen Wynne was grilled by opposition MP’s today over her part in the decisions to cancel gas plants in Oakville and Mississauga prior to the 2011 election. The closures cost tax payers nearly 1.1 billion dollars. At today’s hearings Wynne said she went to great lengths to make sure all of the documents on the cancellations were made public. The New Democrats attempted but failed to get Wynne to admit that her signature on a cabinet document promising to make TransCanada Enterprises “whole” weakened the province’s negotiating position with the developer of the Oakville gas plant. She said the government was told a lawsuit would be an even more expensive possibility. Wynne was testifying for a second time at the justice committee hearings into cancelled gas plants.
