Fredericton’s Beaverbrook Art Gallery is adding an artist-in-residence studio – in tribute to late Canadian artist Bruno Bobak.
The project is being made possible through a gift of $250,000 from Bobak’s estate – along with 175 of his artworks.
It was Bobak’s dream to have a space where an artist could have the freedom to work and interact with gallery visitors.
The residency will include public demonstrations and workshops for artists from New Brunswick and other parts of Canada.
Bruno Bobak died in September 2012.
He was Canada’s youngest war artist and documented scenes of war in Belgium, Holland and France.
He was honoured with The Order of Canada in 1995.
