The Prime Minister’s former Chief of Staff says he did not break any laws when he wrote a 90-thousand-dollar cheque to Senator Mike Duffy to help him reimburse expenses he improperly claimed. Nigel Wright is reacting to information in court documents the RCMP filed today. The documents allege that Wright broke the law when he issued that cheque. The Mounties say that writing the cheque amounts to breach of trust by both Wright and Duffy, because Prime Minister Harper didn’t give his consent. This is the first time, the RCMP has accused Wright of breaking the law.
