Part of Toronto’s downtown entertainment district was closed to traffic for much of the morning as police dealt with an incendiary device.

Officers pulled over a car about 3:30 this morning as part of an investigation into what police say are suspected arsonists. They found a suspicious package in the trunk of the car.

An explosive disposal robot removed what appeared to be a duffle bag from the trunk and left it on the road near the car. Just before 8:00 this morning, the device was detonated.

There were no injuries, or damage to nearby buildings.
