There’s a new development in the Senate Expense Scandal.
Conservative Party senators continue to push today for the suspension of Senators Mike Duffy, Patrick Brazeau and Pamela Wallin.
But Conservative Senator Yonah Martin tabled a notice of motion which would allow them to retain access to health and life insurance benefits.
However the motion would still suspend the three without pay or access to Senate resources.
The three senators have maintained they followed the rules.
Meanwhile if the Supreme Court rejects the Harper government’s senate reform plans the federal minister responsible for democratic reform says the next best thing would be abolition.
Speaking in Calgary, Pierre Poilievre said the federal government is waiting for the high court to decide on how the Senate can be reformed, or dissolved.
