Karen Stintz says she will step down as TTC chair while she runs for Toronto’s Mayor next year. Stintz says once the 2014 budget is finalized by City Council, in January or February, she will leave the position.  It’s a decision she says she’s making to avoid controversy. Stintz says she doesn’t want anyone to suggest she’s trying to use the TTC as a platform for the mayor’s race.  The Ward 16 Eglinton-Lawrence Councillor says she would like Councillor Josh Colle, to take over as TTC chair.  She cites his experience on the TTC board and his career working in the transportation sector prior to being elected three years ago.  It’s up to Toronto City Council to decide who chairs the TTC.  Karen Stintz formally declared her intention to run for mayor on the weekend.
