A Toronto philanthropic family has made a gigantic donation to a number of the city’s hospitals.
The Slaight Family Foundation is giving $50 million to five hospitals for projects to benefit patients.
The money will be shared equally by Toronto General and Western Hospital, St. Michael’s Hospital, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Mount Sinai Hospital and The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
Gary Slaight says the foundation’s hope is that these donations will encourage others to support health care where they live.
The donations are going to specific projects in the five hospitals receiving the money.
The hospital benefits include a doubling of the emergency department at St. Michael’s Hospital.
