A new bombshell has been dropped on the Senate budget scandal.
Senator Patrick Brazeau says the Government leader in the Senate offered him “a backroom deal” today.
Brazeau says he was told by Claude Carignan that there would be lighter sanctions imposed against him – if he apologized and took responsibility for his actions.
Carignan acknowledged the offer – saying perhaps his urge to help Brazeau was too strong.
Brazeau, Pamela Wallin, and Mike Duffy – face motions to suspend them from the Senate without pay for alleged gross negligence – in their use of parliamentary resources.
The three senators along with former Liberal senator Mac Harb -are under investigation by the RC-M-P for allegations that they wrongly claimed Senate housing allowances and living expenses.
