Zoomers have been told for years to watch their salt intake.
Now, a group that advises doctors on how to help people prevent high blood pressure, has updated its advice on how much sodium Canadians should ingest.
Hypertension Canada has raised the recommended amount of daily sodium intake to 2-thousand milligrams the equivalent of roughly one teaspoon of salt.
Too much sodium increases a person’s risk for high blood pressure.
High blood pressure often leads to heart disease and stroke.
Task force cochaiR Dr. Raj Padwal says eating whole fresh foods like fruits and vegetables will automatically curb salt intake.
