The Prime Minister was not in his office when the Langevin Block was evacuated today.

That’s the building opposite Parliament Hill that houses the prime minister’s office.

It was evacuated after a suspicious package was found this morning.

The RCMP have a person in custody but that person’s name has not been released and there’s no information at this time about the package that was retrieved.

The incident came just hours ahead of the Speech From The Throne.

The threat closed the street on which the Governor General would proceed to the Senate Chamber to deliver the government’s outline of legislation it plans to propose in this session of parliament.
