Another Henry Moore sculpture has been stolen in the U-K.

The 1950 work, “Standing Figure,” was taken last week from a park in Scotland.

It’s a large bronze sculpture over seven feet tall and it’s the latest outdoor artwork by the modernist sculptor to have been nipped by thieves in Britain.

Two men were jailed last year  for stealing a sculpture from the estate of the Henry Moore Foundation in England.

And in 2005 a two-ton bronze by Moore, titled “Reclining Figure” was stolen from the foundation.

Police say that  mammoth work  may have been melted down and sold for scrap metal.

Here in Toronto The Art Gallery of Ontario has an  extensive collection of  Moore’s  works. The Henry Moore Sculpture Centre opened in 1974, to house Moore’s original gift to the AGO -which now totals  more than 900 sculptures and works on paper.
