The days of being forced to buy cable TV bundles with channels you don’t want in order to get those you do – may soon be over.
Ottawa’s planning to introduce legislation that’ll require cable and satellite providers to offer you pick and pay services.
In other words, forcing them to unbundle packages.
The New Democrats are skeptical.
The party’s consumer affairs critic Glenn Thibeault says in the past, the Harper Conservatives have brought in consumer protection measures that were voluntary, rather than mandatory.
Wednesday’s throne speech will also outline plans to ensure flyers are compensated when they’re inconvenienced by airline overbooking.
