Longtime film critic Stanley Kauffmann has died at the age of 97.
Kauffman began reviewing for The New Republic in 1958 and remained there for more than 50 years – becoming one of the oldest working critics in history.
He also wrote several novels and plays and helped discover Ray Bradbury’s classic novel Fahrenheit 451.
Kauffmann’s work brought him an Emmy and a George Polk Award.
In 1966 he was briefly The New York Times’ theatre critic and also taught at the Yale School of Drama.
