$50,000 GILLER SHORTLIST ANNOUNCED

The shortlist has been announced for the $50,000 Scotiabank Giller Prize andonce again, Lynn Coady and Lisa Moore are on it.

Moore is from St. John’s Newfoundland. She’s been recognized for her novel “Caught.”

And Edmonton’s Lynn Coady has been nominated for her short story collection “Hellgoing” – two years after she was a contender for ” The Antagonist.”

Alsoon thelist of Giller finalists are Toronto’s Dennis Bockfor his novel “Going Home Again,” and Toronto’s Craig Davidson for “Cataract City.”

Also nominated isEdmonton’s Dan Vyleta for his novel ” The Crooked Maid.”

Toronto writer David Gilmour didn’tmake it ontothe Giller shortlist. Gilmour recently made headlines when he told Random House of Canada’s online magazine Hazlitt he was”not interested in teaching books by women.”

The jury includedCanLit legend Margaret Atwood. The shortlist was created from 13 entries- which had been narrowed from a broader field of 147 books submitted by 61 publishers.

The winner will be announced at a November 5th gala in Toronto.
