The Eglinton-Scarborough Crosstown LRT is expected to improve public transit along Eglinton Avenue between Jane and Kennedy. But the projectis alsobringing a number of planning opportunities and challenges. Residents and business owners are invited tonight to attend the first of a series of open houses when City of Toronto planners will present recommendations for the future of Eglinton Avenue.Spokesperson Lorna Day tells the CBC, “a lot of that bus traffic is going to be accommodated by the LRT below grade, so it allows us to recalibrate and re-balance the use of that right of way so some of that space can be use for protected bike lanes and wider sidewalks.”

Tonight’s open house is at George Harvey Collegiate Institute at 1700 Keele Street, just south of Eglinton.Tomorrow’s open house will be at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute.Wednesday, an open house takes place at Jean Vanier Secondary School.Get more information on the Eglinton Connects Planning Study here
