Canadian actor and comedian Jim Carrey is now an author. The 51 year old Newmarket native, was in Toronto Sunday, reading from his first book “How Roland Rolls” at the Indigo book store at Yorkdale. Carrey says his decision to write a children’s book was based on the joy he gets from the time he spends with his daughter and grandson. In fact, the book is dedicated to his grandson. The EP, which was created as a companion piece to the book, contains music he wrote with his daughter Jane. The book reading and signing was a big hit with younger fans. One particularly precocious seven year old said, “Unlike some of Carrey’s movies, this book is quite appropriate for children, has funny parts and is quite humourous”. “How Roland Rolls” is the story of a young ocean wave who finds friendship and love as it rolls toward the shore.
