Producers of a new biopic on the late Princess Diana have begun creating buzz about the film with a big poster campaign.

But some people in Paris are outraged at the location for one of the posters, right above the traffic tunnel where she was killed in a car accident in 1997.

People magazine’s website says the poster is just a few feet away from the Flame of Liberty, which has become an unofficial memorial for Diana.

One of her close confidantes calls it “despicable” that an ad would be placed in that particular spot; especially an ad for a movie she says “should never have been made.”

But a spokesman for Paris City Hall says the posters have gone up around the city and are all displayed legally.

The film is due out next month. It stars Naomi Watts as Diana, and was widely panned by critics on the film festival circuit.
