It’s a day to celebrate aging!  Today is October 1st; National Senior’s Day.

CARP, A New Vision of Aging for Canadians, will mark the occasion with a ceremonial flag raising at Toronto City Hall at noon.  Canada’s Minister of State for Seniors is also involved in celebrations at the North York Senior Centre.  Alice Wong announces a new national pilot project aimed at combating the social isolation of seniors.

National Senior’s Day was instituted by the Federal Government in 2011 to “pay tribute to the seniors who have helped build our country and continue to make valuable contributions to Canadian communities, workplaces and society.”

CARP is Canada’s largest national, non-profit, non-partisan advocacy association for older Canadians.

CARP and this radio station, The New AM 740, along with The New Classical 96.3FM, belong to the Zoomer Media family.
