Kenya’s interior minister says two Islamic extremists were killed in a military operation to rescue hostages inside an upscale mall in Nairobi.
Black and grey smoke could be seen rising from the mall after four large blasts today.
Gunfire also followed the explosions.
Kenyan forces claim to have taken control of all floors of the building despite the continued presence of gunmen inside.
It’s unclear if siege is over.
It began Saturday when gunmen stormed the mall.
The attack left 62 dead.
Earlier reports had put the toll as high as 69, but apparently some bodies had been counted twice.
The terrorists claim that one of their fighters in the mall is from Ontario, which hasn’t been verified.
