A new British study suggests cattle vaccines like one developed in Canada, could slash the number of people infected with E. coli by nearly 85 per cent. Canadian researchers developed an E. coli vaccine for cows that was approved for use in back in 2008. But cattle farmers seldom vaccinate their stock due to the fact they have no incentive to spend the six dollars a head it costs to do so. E. coli doesn’t sicken cattle but does affect the people who eat beef infected with the bacteria.
