The U.S Navy says the gunman who opened fire at the Washington Navy Yard this morning was a reservist full-time from 2007 until 2011.
Officials say 34-year-old Texan, Aaron Alexis, left the Navy January 31st, 2011 as a petty officer 3rd class.
The shooter had been working for the fleet logistics support squadron in Fort Worth. His home of record was listed as New York City.
Alexis was one of 13 people killed in the rampage, which prompted the closure of the U.S Senate.
Police continue to search for a second suspect.
