Five American Zoomer artists will receive this year’s honours from the Kennedy Centre.
In announcing this year’s group of honourees, Kennedy Centre CEO David M. Rubenstein says “the remarkable breadth and range of Shirley Maclaine‘s acting career has left an indelible over a nearly 60-year career …. Martina Arroyo has dazzled the world with her glorious soprano voice and continues to share her artistry with a new generation of opera singers … Herbie Hancock has established himself as one of the most innovative musicians in the world … Billy Joel‘s melodies have provided the soundtrack of our lives for over four decades … and Carlos Santana‘s artistry transcends genres while entertaining millions.”
The Kennedy Centre Honours are given out to artists for a lifetime of contributions to American culture.
US President Barack Obama will lead the salute to the five artists on December 8th at the Kennedy Centre in Washington.
