Julia Roberts says it was one of her most challenging roles. The Academy Award winning 45 year old year old actress was in Toronto last night for the premiere of August: Osage County, which also stars the legendary Meryl Streep. It’s the story of a dysfunctional family which comes together after the death of the family patriarch. Roberts says the movie certainly has the feel of the theatre production by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Tracey Letts. Roberts wore a red Dolce & Gabbana mini dress and told reporters on the red carpet, “Tracey Letts wrote such a magnificent play and it is a house of cards. The construction of it is so complex and so specific … you have to really bring everything you’ve ever tried to accomplish in your life really. So there’s no messin’ around. There’s no naps at lunch, that’s for sure!”
August: Osage County is directed by John Wells and co-produced by George Clooney.
