A who’s who of zoomer actors will be in Toronto over the next week and a half for this city’s international film festival.  The legendary Meryl Streep visits Toronto to promote her movie August: Osage County which is directed by George Clooney and co-stars Julia Roberts.

Glenn Close is here for the 30 year anniversary celebration of the classic film The Big Chill.  Co-star Meg Tilly and director Lawrence Kasdan are also scheduled to attend tonight’s special screening of the 1983 movie about a group of old college pals who come together for a friend’s funeral.  Tilly says they didn’t know how big the film would be when they were making The Big Chill.  She recalls, “I mean we’re having fun, but is anybody going to want to watch this movie?  Because it’s just like quiet moments.  It’s not like car chases or big drama and we really didn’t know.”  The Big Chill had its world premiere in Toronto back in 1983.  It went on to win a People’s Choice Award and was nominated for three Academy Awards.

Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve has two films at TIFF; the U.S. backed thriller Prisoners with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal and the surreal Canada-Spain co-production Enemy, also with Gyllenhaal.
