The person who will lead an internal review into the use of force by Toronto police  has been named.

He is former Supreme Court justice, Frank Lacobucci.

Police chief Bill Blair made the announcement earlier this afternoon.

Lacobucci takes the job after judge Dennis O’Connor withdrew from the position on Wednesday because of a conflict of interest.

Chief Blair announced the investigation just weeks after 18-year old Sammy Yatim was fatally shot by a police officer while brandishing a knife on a TTC streetcar in late July.

30-year old Constable, James Forcillo is charged with second-degree murder.
