Two Ontario men who were arrested in Cairo are hoping they will finally get to speak with a lawyer today.

Tarek Loubani and John Greyson were arrested on Friday. Prosecutors say they were part of a group of foreign nationals storming a police station. The allegations against them include being part of an armed gang and possessing explosives.

Their family and friends reject the allegations, saying both men are dedicated to humanitarian works. They hope the meeting with a lawyer will mean they will finally find out how the two men are doing. Greyson’s sister Cecilia says they have had not word of their condition beyond confirmation that they are still alive.

The federal government says it is doing everything it can to get Loubani and Greyson released. They were on their way to Gaza where Loubani was to teach in a hospital.
