Tafelmusik has been given a $1 Million dollar gift in honour of Jeanne Lamon -who’ll be celebrating her final year as music director this season.
The hefty “leadership gift” comes from the Honourable Henry N.R. Jackman.
His donation will go towards the $3 Million dollar Revitalization Project at Trinity-St. Paul’s Centre which is Tafelmusik’s home venue and is home to a number of performing arts organizations.
The announcement brings the money raised for both renovation phases up to $2.5 Million.
The renovation is also generously supported by the Cultural Spaces Canada programme of Canadian Heritage with a $500,000 matching contribution.
Tafelmusik will now refer to its venue as Jeanne Lamon Hall, honouring more than 30 years of her leadership.
Phase One renovation work will be completed in late September this year with the first public concerts in the renewed venue taking place this October 3rd to 6th.
