Canadians are going to enjoy chocolate, caramel and pecans with their double double as Tim Horton’s selects the Tortoise Torte Oreo Borealis in the great Dueling Donuts competition. The Torte, the creation of 39 year old Andrew Shepherd, melds together chocolate, caramel and pecans and beat out 63,000 other entries. A panel of judges that included actor Jason Priestley had whittled down the pool of applicants to eight finalists, with doughnuts such as Monkey C-Donut, Monkey Do-Nut and S’more Of It. Shepherd takes home $10,000 for his efforts. Tim Hortons has plans to use the winning entry as inspiration for a doughnut on the menu in stores across the country.
