Toronto’s mayor is refusing to comment on reports that the police are investigating two of his associates who may have been trying to obtain the alleged video of Rob Ford smoking crack cocaine.
The Toronto Star reported on Saturday that Alexander “Sandro” Lisi and David Price were hunting for the video in the days after its existence was first reported. Lisi and Price are both long-time friends of the Mayor’s. The Star report says Lisi has told three associates that he has supplied Ford with drugs, but the paper says it hasn’t been able to independently verify the claim.
The latest development in the ongoing investigation into the alleged crack video follows a week of revelations about the actions of Toronto’s controversial mayor. The Globe and Mail reported that Ford made an unscheduled evening visit to the Toronto West Detention Centre in March in which he asked to see a prisoner in the jail who was an old friend. That request was turned down because it was after hours.
The other story involved the mayor’s appearance at the Taste of The Danforth festival in what was discribed as an inebriated state.
As to the alleged crack video, Ford has been adamant that no such video exists. Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair won’t say whether police are investigating the video’s existence, but he has also never said the mayor is not a subject of investigation.
