HARPER SPEAKS OUT OVER RUSSIAN ANTI-GAY LAW

Stephen Harper  joining the growing international opposition to Russia`s new anti-gay law.

In the prime minister’s words,  Canada does not kill or jail people for their political views, or for engaging in certain consensual acts between adults.

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird has also expressed hope that the controversy would be resolved before the Winter Olympics begin in February.

The controversiallaw bans so-called ”propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations” and imposes fines on people who stage gay pride rallies.

Russia says it does not plan to the law as global pressure builds ahead of the Winter Games in Sochi six months from now.
