Fiona Shaw is best known as the nasty Aunt Petunia in the Harry Potter movies. But the Irish actress is taking on a new role in opera.
Shaw will be directing the Metropolitan Opera’s production of Eugene Onegin this fall. She’s replacing her colleague, Deborah Warner, who needs to have surgery.
Although it will be her debut at the Met, Fiona Shaw has directed operas elsewhere, including the English National Opera and the Glyndebourne Opera.
The Met’s production of Eugene Onegin opens September 23rd.
