Tennis icon Billie Jean King was inducted last night into the Rogers Cup Tennis Hall of Fame.  It’s been forty years since she put women’s tennis on the map by beating Bobby Riggs in the legendary Battle of the Sexes, and forty years since she started the Women’s Tennis Association.  King tells Zoomer Media’s Libby Znaimer, “there’s always more that we have to do.  Even if things are perfect for both genders.  We still want to make things better.  And women’s tennis is an example.  Equal prize money is the message, not the money.  That’s the message that has to be sent to both boys and girls.”

So does Billie Jean have any regrets about her tennis career?  “You know I was taught to go out on top,” she explains, “and I did, and that was a mistake.  But I got caught up in people telling me you have to go out on top after winning Wimbledon in 75.”  Now she thinks, “what was I doing? I love to play.  Stupido!”  As for her age, Billie Jean King is going to be 70 this year and she says, “I love it!”
