Canada’s embassy in Bangladesh is closed as western countries take precautions amid concerns al-Qaida may be about to carry out an attack.
Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird said Friday there were no plans to close any Canadian missions, but indicated the situation would be monitored.
Ottawa’s move follows U-S closed 21 embassies and consulates in the Middle East and North Africa this weekend.
France, Britain and Germany all closed their missions in Yemen today.
Canada does not have an embassy there.
Canadian diplomats and travellers are advised to exercise more caution.
