MCMASTER MAKES STEM CELL BREAKTHROUGH

A medical breakthrough close to home.

Researchers at Hamilton’s McMaster University say a discovery they’ve made could lead to more available bone transplants.

Scientists have found  that the highest quality blood stem cells  can be found in a certain part of the bone.

Researchers compare these stem cells to “elite athletes” and say the findings could lead to more efficient collection of the cells for bone marrow transplants.
